Welcome to Orientation - Fall 2025

Orientation Cal Poly Maritime Academy marks the beginning of your academic, professional, and personal journey at one of California’s most distinctive campuses. Whether you're a first-year cadet in a licensed maritime program, a non-licensed major, or a transfer student, Orientation is designed to connect you to your peers, your purpose, and your path forward. 

Rooted in the Maritime Academy’s Dedication, Honesty, Integrity, Responsibility, Respect and Trust philosophy, this program introduces you to the values, expectations, and resources that will guide your success both here and beyond. 

Mission Statement

The mission of Orientation is to create a welcoming and informative transition experience for all incoming students. Through intentional programming, Orientation empowers students to: 

Establish a strong sense of belonging within the campus community 
Understand academic and career expectations specific to their program 
Develop confidence in navigating campus life and available resources 
Build meaningful connections with peers, faculty, and staff 
Embrace a culture of leadership, integrity, and inclusive excellence 
Our Orientation model supports student success by preparing individuals to thrive in our rigorous and hands-on academic environment. 

Learning Outcomes 

By the end of Orientation, students will be able to:
